Piano prodigy Ryan Wang presented a unique private concert for 101-year-old Dorothy Landry, following his remarkable performances on “The Ellen Show” and at Carnegie Hall. Organized by the Canadian digital music distributor CBC Music, 5-year-old Ryan performed “Variations on an Inner Mongolian Folk Song” exclusively for Landry.
Despite Dorothy’s hearing impairment, which had hindered her ability to fully enjoy Ryan’s concert performances, she had been a fan since he was three years old. In a heartfelt gesture, CBC Music arranged a private performance for her to experience the music more intimately.
Seated in her wheelchair, Dorothy was joined by Ryan, who held a large teddy bear and eagerly awaited the performance. Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to play for her, Ryan affectionately referred to her as “Grandma Dorothy,” eliciting a radiant smile from her.
In return, Dorothy praised Ryan as a “very special little person” and eagerly anticipated his future performances.
She even extended an invitation for him to visit her again after his upcoming trip to China, expressing her heartfelt thanks.
This unique musical connection highlights the power of intergenerational bonds and the universal language of music.
